The Punjab lottery was started in 1968 and is organized by the finance department of the Punjab Government. Today, the Punjab State Government runs six Bumper lottery schemes, and these are regulated by the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998. These draws are conducted on the days of the most celebrated festivals around the year. The lottery draw takes place in the Zila Parishad building in Ludhigarh district of Punjab.
Previously, the Punjab State Government held weekly and monthly draws. However, they have recently been put on hold.
