West Bengal Lottery

West Bengal Lottery started in the year 1968 and is organized by the Directorate of State lotteries, working under the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal State. The current policy of West Bengal is to organize and promote State Lotteries, meeting all the provisions of the Lottery Regulation Act of 1998 and also West Bengal State Lottery rules of 1968. All the earnings of lotteries are credited to the Public Account of the State under section 4(D) of the Lottery Regulation Act of 1998. These funds are further used in various development schemes of the state. The lotteries are also a source of income for various distributors and their agents who are involved in them. If viewed in this perspective, all the State lotteries are useful for socio-economic purposes.

Types of West Bengal Lotteries

The state primarily organizes two types of lotteries.

  • Six bumper draws conducted all over the year, celebrating different festivals of the state.
  • Seven draws for every day of the week

Bumper Draws

The bumper draws are organized all over the year and primarily associated with the festivals of West Bengal. The six bumper draws are:

  • New Year Bumper
  • Holi Bumper
  • Nababarsha Bumper
  • Rathyatra Bumper
  • Puja Bumper
  • Diwali Bumper

Weekly Draws

There are seven different games for different days of the week. These draws take place at 4.00 p.m. daily, so they are also commonly known as afternoon draws. The list is as follows:

Rewards Scheme of West Bengal State Lotteries

There are a total of six prize tiers, including the consolation prize. The prize structure remains the same for each day. Prizes are guaranteed only on the sold tickets.

  • First Prize – Rs 31 Lakhs
  • Second Prize – Rs 9000
  • Third Prize – Rs 500
  • Fourth Prize – Rs 310
  • Fifth Prize – Rs 120
  • Consolation Prize – Rs 1000

Claiming the Rewards

A prize amount of Rs 5000 or less has to be claimed from lottery distributors and their authorized agents in the state of West Bengal. The winning ticket has to be submitted for claiming the prize.

For a prize amount higher than Rs 5000, you have to submit a prescribed claim form. The claim form has to be filled in capital letters with all necessary details. Along with claim form, you have to attach an attested copy of your Pan Card, a cancelled cheque of your bank account, and a passport size photo of the winner.

Don’t forget to attach the original winning ticket with a self-attested photocopy, along with an affidavit of ownership of the prize-winning ticket. The winning ticket has to be signed on the back and should not be tampered. You have to send the claim form along with the winning ticket to the following address by courier or in-person:
